As one of Yestech’s senior management team, David Shorten is delighted with how they have helped so many Taxi and Private Hire firms reduce costs, over the last 12 months, at a time when the taxi trade has been so badly affected.

Whilst passenger numbers and bookings have fallen as low as 20% in some instances, overheads have not fallen to reflect this. Office rents are still being paid, insurance contracts need retaining and car leases still need settling every month. Furloughs and grants have helped, but nowhere near enough.

Some dispatch providers have recognised the reduced quantities of cars out on the road and have been gracious enough to reduce their costs to match demand. Others have simply deferred payment until business picks up again, which is only delaying the pain, rather than reducing it.

Yestech are one of only two telecommunications companies in the UK to really focus on the Taxi and Private Hire sector. Whilst our nearest competitor has seemingly adopted the defer-rather-than-reduce tactic; Yestech have proactively engaged in dialogue with our customers since March 2020 to ensure we offer them a reduction in services to match their demand. This consequently means that their costs decrease proportionately to what they need, until such a time as they require those services to be increased again once the UK returns to some degree of normality.

Yes, this means Yestech lose revenue and margins accordingly, but what it also means is that we share the pain of this pandemic with our loyal customers and don’t try to fleece them along the way. If every supplier or utility company offered to do likewise, then every taxi firm would be in a far better position to come out of Lockdown with a fighting chance of staying in business.

This is why Yestech have welcomed so many new firms from our competitors, because when every penny counts (which it really does at the moment), taxi firms have voted with their feet and moved services from them to us. Each one has experienced a reduction in costs of circa 50%. No gimmicks, no catches or conditions. In most cases not even a contract to be bound by.  Just a simple switch to our platform and their costs were halved.  We have tried to help these customers survive by contributing to their cost cutting efforts. We can only help in one small business area of course, but if customers have the same success in cutting costs for all their other overheads and suppliers, then this pandemic would be just that little bit more bearable to deal with.

No one likes being exploited or taken for granted, and because of this we have gained business where others have failed to be quite so ethical and helpful.
